Thursday, 4th October, 2012

The Bank of England monetary policy committee has decided to hold the base interest rate at 0.50%.

The committee has also voted not to extend quantitative easing beyond the existing £375bn provision.

The decision means the BoE base rate has now been held at 0.50% – a record low for interest rates – for over three and a half years.
